Japanese Christian Terms: God

In this post we’ll go over the meaning of the word God (神) in Japanese. I also list out extra vocab, example sentences, as well as links to grammar points I use to help deepen your understanding.

Vocab:

1. 分かる (わかる) – to understand
2. 存在・する (そんざい・する) – to exist

Grammar:

1. ~かどうか – whether or not

Example Sentence:

は存在するかどうか分からない。

I don’t know if God exists (or not).

Example Verses:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
