Top 10 Biblically Relevant Issues of 2020

As we say goodbye to 2020 and welcome 2021, it’s time to take a look at some of what I believe to be the most prophetically significant events and issues of 2020. The Coronavirus pandemic being chief of those, but there was a lot more that happened behind the scenes than just covid.

Below are articles I wrote for 2018 and 2019 that also served as a year in summary of the significant biblical issues at the time.

I’ll do my best to keep this a short article despite the plethora of events that transpired in 2020. Due to that, I also recommend you check out links to other articles I included for further details on a particular section as I will keep each one brief.

Below are the subjects I’ll be focusing on. Feel free to read through them all or skip to a particular section of interest. With that being said, let’s get to it.

The Coronavirus Pandemic

Coronavirus Pandemic

As I stated earlier, undoubtedly, one of the biggest (if not the biggest) event of 2020 was the coronavirus pandemic which affected the whole world. For weeks and months to a time, the world was brought to a standstill as lockdowns were employed and people stayed home.

As the year progressed, many began to view a covid vaccine as the only possible way to return to a semblance of “normalcy”. Some went as far as arguing for it to be mandated. However, I believed that this wouldn’t be necessary if digital health passports such as Covi-Pass, Health Passport Ireland, and CommonPass were employed.

We’ve seen that through this health passport system those who don’t take the vaccine could be barred from participating in society despite it not being “mandatory”. Such a system should bring our attention to Revelation 13:16-17.

Although I do not believe this technology is the mark of the beast as it comes about during the tribulation, it may very well be adding to the stage setting for that to come to fruition. Where this goes in 2021 is yet to be seen but we shouldn’t be surprised to see this become more incorporated into society.

Globalism

Another reason the coronavirus pandemic is so important is that it’s being used as a vehicle to push other agendas to the forefront. Due to this, we’ve seen a medley of proposed “solutions” brought to our attention such as a global governing body to be put in place.

The Guardian in March 2020 reported that UK’s Former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, “urged world leaders to create a temporary form of global government to tackle the twin medical and economic crises caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

This wasn’t the only place where we saw this though. In fact UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres hailed the pandemic as an opportunity to “rebuild our World for the better”. George Soros echoed his sentiment by calling it a “crisis of a lifetime”, all three of them seeing this as an opportunity to remake the world as they see fit.

The bible does in fact tell us there’s a coming global government that will emerge during the tribulation so seeing this shows us how much closer we’re getting to that reality.

The Great Reset

Another initiative that is being pushed to the table as a means to remedy the effects of the pandemic is the Great Reset which is being spear headed by Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum.

They will be kicking off this initiative starting on the week of January 25th-29th in an event they’ve dubbed as “Davos Agenda” week. Part of what will be a part of the Great Reset is the Fourth Industrial Revolution which Schwab has claimed will merge man and machine, an idea better known as transhumanism.

Schwab has also been one of those who has identified the pandemic as a “narrow window of opportunity” that could aid us in “resetting” our world. If you thought 2020 was a strange year, 2021 may just take the cake as globalists like Schwab and others strive to carry out their plans.

Israel & The Middle East

2020 started off with the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani which sparked fears of WWIII. An event that came and gone despite the controversy that surrounded it.

Later in the year however the UAE and Bahrain normalized ties with Israel in what’s known as the Abraham Accords which prompted mention of peace and security that could be ushered into the region. It’s a move that could very well add to the stage setting for the Daniel 9:27 covenant as well as the Ezekiel 38 invasion.

During the invasion, the bible clearly tells us that Israel at the time will be dwelling safely, living in peace (Ezekiel 38:8, 11, 14) and prosperity (Ezekiel 38:12-13). These normalization and peace agreements are further setting the stage for a peaceful and prosperous Israel which would allow this scenario to play out.

With that there were also continued efforts made for the preparation for the third temple and even fears from the Palestinians that it could be built with the help of the UAE.

Since the third temple must be in existence at the midpoint of the tribulation for the abomination of desolation to occur (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15) as we see this kind of news come to light, it shows us the nearness of the tribulation period. Therefore, this is something that we should definitely be paying attention to!

UFOs

If 2020 wasn’t already strange enough, we had many occasions of what I’d personally call “soft disclosure”. The Pentagon UFO Unit reported “off-world vehicles not made on this earth” while a former Israeli Space Security Chief claimed that aliens exist but that humanity isn’t ready for them.

As strange as this sounds, we should take the UFO phenomenon seriously. Many believers, including myself, believe that after the rapture of the church a mass alien abduction type scenario could be presented to the public as a lie or “strong delusion” (2 Thessalonians 2:11). If we as believers fail to provide answers to the world concerning this issue, the world certainly will.

Digital Currency

We saw plans for digital currencies being pushed forward, although covid not being the primary factor for this. China began testing for its digital yuan with the US also considering a digital dollar. However, the US and many other nations are lagging behind China in this arena.

But with news that in January 2021 Facebook will be launching its Libra currency, the European Central Bank (ECB) began preparing to looks into a digital euro to stave off competitions that other digital currencies (such as the Libra) could pose. Actions such as these however would further add to the digital currency race with Japan jumping aboard the bandwagon late in the year.

This issue is an important one as I’ve noted in several of my articles that if a completely cashless society is on the horizon, that means further surveillance and control on the population which may be what needs to be in place for the mark of the beast system (Revelation 13:16-17)

Technology

2020 saw its fair share of interesting technology, much of it bringing us back to the mark of the beast such as the Amazon One Palm Reader and Google’s electronic tattoo “SkinMarks”.

Bill Gate’s Quantum-dot Tattoos were also a big talking point throughout the year as they function as patches applied to the skin to deliver a vaccine through many microneedles which could then be scanned for information.

Although none of this technology can be the mark of the beast as we’re not in the tribulation, if this doesn’t bring one’s mind back to Revelation 13:16-17, I’m not sure what will. As technology advances it seems to progressively set the stage for what will ultimately exist during the tribulation period.

Christian Persecution

Christian Persecution has been a huge issue in 2020 as it grew to frightening heights all over the world. It’s now even seen as “Christian genocide” in places such as Nigeria.

The International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law reported that 2,200 Christians have been “hacked to death” in 2020 alone! North Korean Christians who are caught exercising their faith also face possible torture and death by the government.

In China also a Christian bookseller was sentenced to 7 years in prison while the government also plants surveillance devices in believers’ homes. This is a pressing issue that demands our attention, prayer, and support, but is also sadly an overlooked one.

Prophetically speaking we also know this will not slow down but will increase and “explode” during the tribulation culminating in vast numbers of martyrs such as the “great multitude” (Revelation 6:9-11, 7:9-16, 15:2, 16:4-7, 20:4). Let’s remember to keep our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world in prayer!

Natural Disasters

In 2020 we saw a dramatic increase in the frequency and intensity of wildfires and hurricanes! Both the wildfire and hurricane seasons broke records as the West Coast was up in flames and other parts of the US were battered by a record number of hurricanes.

For the believer in Christ this should be no surprise as the bible tells us this is what we should be expecting in these last days preceding the Lord’s return.

US Elections

Later in the year, the US elections no doubt grabbed the attention of the whole world as many waited – with bated breathe – to see who would win the elections.

A Biden-Harris administration would have immense impacts on us Christians, the world, and also prophetically speaking. News of the administration change has already emboldened Iran and elicited warm reception from the likes of Pope Francis and all those who are looking forward to a change in climate change policy, LGBTQ agenda (i.e. Equality Act), and anything to do with globalism to be frank.

Even Former Secretary of State John Kerry has made it clear a Joe Biden presidency would not only support the Great Reset initiative but also speed it up stating that it “will happen with greater speed and with greater intensity than a lot of people might imagine.”

What Should we Expect in 2021?

By themselves, all of these things may not seem like much, but when we look at the convergence of signs, we can clearly see that 2020 was a year of immense prophetic significance as things sped up dramatically!

It’s impossible to say what 2021 will hold for us but as I make clear in each and every prophetic review article, we can be certain that things will continue to escalate with intensity and frequency. I said this at the beginning of 2020 and we sure did see that take place.

Although many may be expecting the new year to bring peace, stability, and a return back to “normalcy” we all knew pre-covid, I just do not see that to be a possibility, especially keeping in mind everything we went through. All of these things will carry into the new year and we’ll find ourselves in new and uncharted territory.

As we face this new year, my exhortation to you isn’t to let this news frighten you or cause you any anxiety. As we see these things happen, we see confirmation of the truth of God’s word as what it describes will happen during the last days is happening.

We are truly in the season of the Lord’s return and this should fill us with hope as we place our trust in what God has already revealed to us. Our redemption truly draws near!
