In a recent op-ed in the Middle East Monitor, Dean of Political Science at the Umma Open University in Gaza Dr. Adnan Abu Amer, lamented the UAE’s alleged foothold in the Temple Mount and more specifically – the Al Aksa Mosque.
In September, I reported on the Abraham Accords – a historic agreement in which the UAE and Bahrain formalized their relationship with Israel by normalizing ties.
Around that time Al-Jazeera reported how the al-aqsa compound could be divided up, “A statement embedded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain normalisation agreements with Israel, brokered by the United States, may lead to the division of the Al-Aqsa compound.”
The general thought being that the normalization deals could possibly lead to increased Jewish presence on the temple mount, which I believed at the time, could further pave the way for the construction of the third temple.
In what seems to be an update to this situation, we see now that the Palestinians are worried that the UAE may in fact help Israel build the third temple, which is remarkable to say the least.
This also comes at a time when a recent Saudi report claimed that the Al Aqsa mosque is not on the temple mount but that its true location is in Saudi Arabia near Mecca.
Israel’s coalition chair and lawmaker (Likud) Amit Halevi has also stated recently after making a trip to the temple mount that “step-by-step, Israel is getting closer to the Temple” with Israeli lawmaker Nissim Vaturi echoing this sentiment on his own visit to the temple mount. As part of a recitation of a prayer he stated “…to build the Holy Temple quickly and in our days.”
Vaturi is the second Likud Knesset member to not only enter the Temple Mount, but to call for the construction of the third Temple this month. Earlier in December, Israel365News reported that fellow Likud parliamentarian Amit Halevi lit Chanukah candles on Tuesday outside of the Temple Mount and said that step-by-step, Israel is getting closer to the Temple. Truly “step-by-step” Israel is getting closer and closer to building its third temple and the immense prophetic significance of this should not catch the bible believer by surprise.

From Israel365News: In his piece, Amer accuses the Emiratis of having a “negative record” for selling real estate they acquired to a Jewish organization.
He then went on to say that this development is reason to believe that the UAE will help Israel build the third Temple saying: “This raises the Palestinians’ fear that the next stage might signal the start of building the alleged synagogue with the contribution of the UAE authorities.”
Amer backs his claim with the fact that the UAE “already constructed a Hindu temple in Dubai and opened a synagogue in Abu Dhabi.”
The professor also says that Israel, with the help of Sunni Gulf states such as the UAE, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia is making an attempt to push out Turkish influence in Jerusalem adding that: “what angers the Palestinians is news about the Saudi-Jordanian support of the plan orchestrated by the occupation.” Read More
Prophetic Implications
Why should we care about the increased calls for the construction of the third temple? Daniel 9:27 tells us that the antichrist will confirm a covenant for a “week”, being 7 years. Half way through this 7 year period he will break this covenant and put an end to the temple sacrifices.
For the sacrificial system to be put to a stop, it presupposes that the system was restarted or brought back, and for this to occur there must be a third temple in which said sacrifices will take place.
We also see this being elaborated to us in Revelation 11:1-2 concerning the temple that John measures which exists at the midpoint of the tribulation. More on that here.
Ultimately, as we’re seeing an increased fervor for the building of the third temple and preparations being made in speedy fashion, it show us the nearness of the tribulation period and the rapture of the church!
