Japanese Christian Terms: Sin

In this post we’ll go over the meaning of the word Sin (罪) in Japanese. I also list out extra vocab, example sentences, as well as links to grammar points I use to help deepen your understanding.

Vocabulary:

1. 聖書 (せいしょ) – the bible
2. 私たち (わたしたち) – we, us
3. 神様 (かみさま) – God
4. 対す (たいす) – to face (each other), to be in opposition with
5. 犯す (おかす) – to commit (crime)

Grammar:

1. ~によると – according to

Example Sentence:

聖書によると、私たちは神様に対しを犯した。

According to the bible, we’ve all sinned against God.

Example Verses:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

が支払う報酬は死です。しかし、神の賜物は、わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスによる永遠の命なのです。” – ローマの信徒への手紙‬ ‭6:23
