Japanese Christian Terms: Bible

In this post we’ll go over the meaning of the word Bible (聖書) in Japanese. I also list out extra vocab, example sentences, as well as links to grammar points I use to help deepen your understanding.

Vocab:

1. 毎日 (まいにち) – everyday
2. 読む (よむ) – to read

Grammar:

1. ~ほうがいい – it’d be better to, should

Example Sentence:

毎日、聖書を読んだほうがいいよ

You should read the bible everyday.

Example Verses:

“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” – John 5:39

“あなたたちは聖書の中に永遠の命があると考えて、聖書を研究している。ところが、聖書はわたしについて証しをするものだ。” – ‭‭ヨハネによる福音書‬ ‭5:39‬
