A broad coalition of health and technology leaders today announced the creation of the Vaccination Credential Initiative (VCI), committed to empowering individuals with digital access to their vaccination records based on open, interoperable standards.
I’ve been posting about Covid Vaccine (or also called Digital Health) Passports for over half a year now and since then we’ve seen the concept go from just an idea to it now being implemented by Singapore Airlines, and also in Denmark, and Britain. And I’m sure there’s more to come.
We’ve already seen how a UK-based Human Rights Group has warned against Covid Vaccine Passports due to it possibly leading to a “global identity document“. Before we know it, this will begin to be implemented in various areas of life just as I – along with many others – been making the case for.
Now it’s been reported that a coalition has been formed around this effort. Dubbed as the “Vaccination Credential Initiative” (VCI) leaders in the health and tech industries are coming together to further facilitate the access of digital vaccination records. The list of partners is below:
Two partners that catch my attention immediately are Microsoft and The Commons Project Foundation. While it’s no surprise to see Microsoft as a part of this, what’s more interesting in my opinion is seeing the involvement of The Commons Project Foundation as they developed the CommonPass Health Passport which is also backed by the World Economic Forum and the Rockefeller Foundation.
It seems to me that the number of initiatives and groups gathering for this common goal is increasing as it just continues to build upon itself. And as this technology becomes more widespread and usable, it’ll only make it easier to jump aboard the system as necessary.

From Business Wire: The current vaccination record system does not readily support convenient access, control and sharing of verifiable vaccination records.
VCI coalition members are working to enable digital access to vaccination records using the open, interoperable SMART Health Cards specification, based on W3C Verifiable Credential and HL7 FHIR standards.
VCI’s vision is to empower individuals to obtain an encrypted digital copy of their immunization credentials to store in a digital wallet of their choice. Those without smartphones could receive paper printed with QR codes containing W3C verifiable credentials.
“The goal of the Vaccination Credential Initiative is to empower individuals with digital access to their vaccination records so they can use tools like CommonPass to safely return to travel, work, school, and life, while protecting their data privacy,” said Paul Meyer, CEO of The Commons Project Foundation.
“Open standards and interoperability are at the heart of VCI’s efforts and we look forward to supporting the World Health Organization and other global stakeholders in implementing and scaling open global standards for health data interoperability.”
“As we explore the many use cases for the vaccination credential, we are working to ensure that underserved populations have access to this verification,” said Dr. Brian Anderson, chief digital health physician at MITRE.

Prophetic Implications
The purpose of bringing this up is to show what I believe is the general direction things are headed.
What we’re seeing being brought to fruition today – in my opinion – is part of what may very well be laying the groundwork for the mark of the beast system we read about in Revelation 13:16-17 that ultimately arises during the tribulation period.
Although I do not believe this vaccine or this digital health passport technology is the mark of the beast, as it comes out during the tribulation, I’ve made it clear that it may very well be a shadow of that system. For the believer in Christ, these are exciting times as we see our redemption draws near!
If you’re not a believer, this is an exhortation to you to cast your hopes on Christ as the world seemingly falls apart around us. I pray that you reflect on what’s been presented here in light of bible prophecy and take into consideration God’s free gift of salvation to you by which you can have eternal life and peace in the midst of life’s trials.
