US Lawmakers Create Bipartisan Caucus to Promote Abraham Accords

A bipartisan group of United States lawmakers from the House and Senate launched the Abraham Accords Congressional Caucus on Monday, seeking to expand the American legislative branch’s role in the promotion of the normalization agreements Israel has signed with Arab neighbors.

The promotion and expansion of the Abraham Accords has been something I’ve been keeping my eyes on since its inception. The last time I wrote about the Abraham Accords in September of 2021, we learned that Former US Ambassador David Friedman launched the “Friedman Center for Peace through Strength” institute meant to “build on existing accomplishments and advance peace and prosperity throughout the Middle East,” (The Jerusalem Post).

We can’t forget that that also came on the heals of the “Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021” in April, Jared Kushner launching a peace institute in May, and all the while, the Biden Administration has given their green light to continue this effort, “US President Joe Biden is supportive of the agreements and has taken steps to develop the new ties Israel has forged with some of its Arab neighbors,” (The Times of Israel).

In October 2021, Israel launched a new caucus for the express purpose of protecting the future of the Abraham Accords and is seen as the “next step to solidify the relationship between Israel and its Sunni Arab neighbors,” (CBN News).

Now seemingly following in the footsteps of Israel, a bipartisan caucus launched by US lawmakers was created to further promote and expand upon the Abraham Accords. The Times of Israel reported that “the group would provide ‘bipartisan leadership to strengthen existing partnerships and widen the circle of peace to new countries,'” (The Times of Israel).

“In just one year, the Abraham Accords have already transformed the Middle East by contributing to regional peace and stability, promoting US interests, and enhancing Israel’s security,” Sen. Rosen told Jewish Insider. “The Abraham Accords Caucus will build on that success by providing bipartisan leadership to strengthen existing partnerships and widen the circle of peace to new countries.” (CBN News)

As I’ve been saying since the Abraham Accords were initially brokered, don’t expect this to go away any time soon. I believe that this may be contributing to the stage setting for the Daniel 9:27 covenant as well as for the conditions for the Ezekiel 38-39 invasion. I go into this further in my article, What is the Prophetic Significance of the Abraham Accords?, and note there that Ezekiel 38 highlights a prosperous Israel that also dwells securely (Ezekiel 38:8-13).

To that note, CBN News captured the optimism of Bahrain’s ambassador – Khaled Yousif al-Jalahma – towards the Abraham Accords and what may come from it stating, “It can become the mechanism that enables us despite the differences to put our hands together and work towards one goal, a safer, more prosperous and secure Middle East,” (CBN News).

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called the Abraham Accords ‘a lever for a new reality, economically, in terms of security and diplomatically.’ (The Jerusalem post)

Ultimately, as we see what God’s word says concerning the last days take formation right before our eyes it should get us excited concerning the times we’re living in! It should encourage us that His word is true and that everything is going exactly according to His plans.

US lawmakers launch bipartisan caucus to promote Abraham Accords

The Times of Israel: The caucus will be co-chaired by Republicans Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Joni Ernst (R-IA) and James Lankford (R-OK) in the Senate and Reps. Brad Schneider (D-IL), David Trone (D-MD), Ann Wagner (R-MO) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) in the House.

In various statements announcing the caucus’s establishment, none of the members specified how exactly they plan to promote the Abraham Accords, though Rosen said the group would provide “bipartisan leadership to strengthen existing partnerships and widen the circle of peace to new countries.”

Some of the caucus co-chairs have already sponsored the Israel Relations Normalization Act, which was introduced last year before stalling due to congressional squabbling. That legislation directs the State Department to report to Congress on steps being taken to promote the Abraham Accords, which were signed by Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco last year.

Schneider told The Times of Israel that the caucus “will further Congress’ work toward ensuring a secure, Jewish and democratic Israel living side by side with a Palestinian state. Lankford told Jewish Insider, which first reported the caucus’s launching, that the delegation would seek to keep the executive branch focused on adding more countries to the accords brokered under the Trump administration.

“I don’t want this getting lost in the State Department,” Lankford told Jewish Insider. “So this is a way that we can actually reach out to State and continue to push that, and continue to be able to encourage those countries… and we have relationships with them as well.”

US President Joe Biden is supportive of the agreements and has taken steps to develop the new ties Israel has forged with some of its Arab neighbors, but expanding the Abraham Accords will be a taller task, as the current White House is not fond of some of the steps taken by former US president Donald Trump to coax countries into signing peace deals with Israel.
