NASA Hires 24 Theologians to Assess How Major World Religions Would React to News of Extraterrestrial Life

In a rather bizarre move, NASA has recruited a British priest to prepare the religious for the discovery of alien life as space agencies claim to be getting closer to discovering evidence that life exists outside of planet earth reports The Times.

2021 has been an eventful year for the topic of UFOs to say the least. The first half of the year saw much more of a fervor surrounding this topic due to the highly anticipated UFO Intelligence Report that was expected in June. Before the report came out, we found out in January that the CIA released over 2,000 pages of UFO documents and that in February, the Pentagon admitted to testing wreckage from UFO crashes.

Then came the UFO Intelligence Report, which to my expectations, didn’t match the hype surrounding it. For those of us that follow the latest news concerning the UFO phenomenon that’s seemingly entranced our culture (and perhaps even the world at an ever increasing rate), the details presented in the report were nothing groundbreaking. It was essentially 9 pages of them saying the below things:

  1. They don’t know what the UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) are
  2. The UAPs pose a threat to national security
  3. They’ll continue looking into the matter

After the report, the second half of the year saw a dramatic decrease in UFO related news – at least from what I personally noticed. It seemed to me that once the hype around the report died down, people moved on to bigger and better things. However, despite the apparent silence, that doesn’t mean that the UFO phenomenon as we know it suddenly ceased to exist. Nor have the efforts of some to find intelligent life beyond our planet stopped.

This now leads us to where we are now – NASA has hired 24 theologians to look into how the major world religions may react in the event that we encounter or “discover” extraterrestrial life. Reverend Dr. Andrew Davison, “a priest and theologian at the University of Cambridge with a doctorate in biochemistry from Oxford” is highlighted as being one these 24 (Daily Mail).

They “participated in a program sponsored by NASA at the space agency’s Center for Theological Inquiry (CTI) at Princeton University. The theologians attempted to assess how major religions would react to news of alien life being found,” (Israel365News).

Dr Davison said he met various NASA scientists, like Mary Voytek, the head of NASA’s astrobiology team, during the programme in Princeton said they were “deeply personally interested in how it would be received by the public and how it would impact on questions of value and meaning. (Express)

Naturally, this begs the question as to what NASA is planning on doing with this information or why they care about it to begin with. To me, it also seems like a show of confidence (to some degree) on their part that they believe we may even be close enough to discovering “alien life” for this task force to be put together in the first place.

Through this effort, Davidson seeks to answer some questions he has on the subject one of these being if the creation story in Genesis would need to be rewritten, “Davidson seeks to answer theological questions such as whether or not God made life in other parts of the universe or if he sent a savior to die for the sins of aliens. Another question the British priest seeks to tackle is if discovering extraterrestrial life demands religions to rewrite the entire story of creation in Genesis,” (Israel365News).

The Vatican themselves have had a history of being on the side furthering this narrative, “In 2008, the Vatican’s chief astronomer says there is no conflict between believing in God and in the possibility of ‘extraterrestrial brothers’ perhaps more evolved than humans,” (Daily Mail). While they take a more optimistic approach to this, other Christians do not, and in my opinion, rightfully so.

Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said in a 2008 interview when asked if there are such thing as aliens: ‘The answer is no; that’s speculative. ‘We have no reason to believe there is any other story out there. There is nothing in Scripture that says there can’t be some form of life somewhere. But what we are told is that the cosmos was created in order that on this planet Jesus Christ, in space and time and history, would come to save sinful humanity.’  (Daily Mail)

I couldn’t agree more with this quote which has also been the view I’ve shared here on numerous occasions whenever I bring up this topic. It’s clear that the thought process concerning UFOs and extraterrestrial life is rapidly progressing. What used to be relegated to the domain of “conspiracy theory” is now seeing a growing acceptance in our culture, receiving serious airtime on major news stations (such as CNN and Fox News), and now consideration as to how major world religions may view this and what teachings and beliefs in those religions may need to be altered.

To add to all of this, Yahoo News reported last month that “The search for alien life is the top priority of astronomers in the next ten years, according to a major Nasa-sponsored report” and that “Humanity must keep hunting for worlds that could be home to other kinds of life…”

What we’re witnessing is a growing acceptance and preparation for an extraterrestrial reality that I believe is not extraterrestrial in nature but is instead interdimensional or otherwise, demonic. None of this is a coincidence and I believe it expressly speaks to the times we’re living in.

NASA HIRES CATHOLIC PRIEST TO PREPARE RELIGIONS FOR ENCOUNTER WITH ALIENS

Israel365News: Reverend Dr. Andrew Davison, a priest and theology professor at the University of Cambridge, is among 24 theologians who participated in a program sponsored by NASA at the space agency’s Center for Theological Inquiry (CTI) at Princeton University. The theologians attempted to assess how major religions would react to news of alien life being found.

The appointment comes as NASA’s $10billion James Webb Space Telescope is scheduled to launch on Christmas day.

The vessel will implement cutting-edge technology to examine every phase of cosmic history inside the solar system to the most distant observable galaxies in the early universe.

The device, which features infrared capabilities, will study a wide array of scientific questions to help mankind better understand the “origins of the universe and humans’ place in it.” A NASA expert said The Times: “We may not discover life for 100 years. Or we may discover it next week.”

NASA ‘looks to the heavens’ for help: Agency enlists 24 theologians to assess how the world would react to the discovery of alien life on distant planets and how it might change our perception of gods and creation

Daily Mail: NASA is looking to the heavens for help with assessing how humans will react if alien life is found on other planets and how the discovery could impact our ideas of gods and creation.

The agency is hiring 24 theologians to take part in its program at the Center for Theological Inquiry (CTI) at Princeton University in New Jersey, which NASA gave a $1.1 million grant to in 2014.

CTI is described as building ‘bridges of under understanding by convening theologians, scientists, scholars, and policymakers to think together – and inform public thinking – on global concerns.’

The program aims to answer questions that have baffled us since the begging of time such as what is life? What does it mean to be alive? Where do we draw the line between the human and the alien? What are the possibilities for sentient life in other places?

Now that NASA has two rovers on Mars, several probes orbiting Jupiter and Saturn and is set to launch the James Web Telescope tomorrow that study galaxy, star and planet formation in the universe, it seems that the agency is hopeful it is on the right path to discovering life outside of Earth.

And it needs a little help from above to help those of us living below to understand if that happens. Read More
